Why Volunteer?

MYCA is a volunteer based organization. To run it effectively and at the same time keep the participation cost low, it is being made mandatory for all the parents to volunteer a certain minimum amount of time per year.

What is Volunteer Deposits?

A volunteer deposit is a specific amount collected along with the participation fee when you register your child for a program. You will be informed the number of volunteer hours needed and will also be provided with a list of volunteering opportunities. You are volunteering during the time when you child is participating, so there is no additional time commitment required except to stay back and help. This deposit will be refunded back to you at the end of the tournament or session provided you have volunteered as needed.

What if I don't want to volunteer?

Your volunteer deposit will not be refunded. No other penalties.

What if I only want to partially volunteer?

Your volunteer deposit will not be refunded if you do not volunteer the minimum expected hours.

How do you track the Volunteer Hours?

Every Event Coordinator for Academy, Clinic or Tournament will keep track of the time and will document it. You need to register for the time slot / session ahead of time by talking to the event coordinator or email myca@mocricket.org. The sooner you pick the time slot, the more options you get. This sign-up sheet will be available online or with an event coordinator.

How much time I need to volunteers?

It depends on the event your child is registering for. For example, for a 20 week academy session, a parent is required to volunteer for 5 weekly sessions. For a 4 week session, a parent is required to volunteer for 2 weekly sessions. For tournaments, a parent is required to volunteer to help with minimum 2 matches as a scorer or an umpire, etc.

What if I signed up for volunteering, but I missed it?

If you signed up for a time slot, you need to fulfill that commitment. If you need to change the time, you need to talk to the event coordinator at least one week in advance, and if there is available time slot, you can swap it. If there is no available time slot to swap, your volunteer deposit will not be refunded.

I don't have enough knowledge about Cricket, how can I volunteer?

You don't have to be a cricketer to help. You only need to have the willingness to Help. The coach or event coordinator will assign you a task based on your comfort level. For Academy, a help could be just doing a specific drill with kid, and once that is done, the coach will tell you about the next drill. For tournaments, you can volunteer with scoring, umpiring, documenting the scoresheets, etc.
